My Why (About Me)

I have had the privilege of working with children and families for more than 20 years.

I began my career teaching special education at the high school level. Since then, I have taught children across all grade levels, from kindergarten through transition.  I absolutely loved my teaching experiences, though throughout them, I became increasingly aware of the lack of resources for teachers, families and most importantly, children, who needed expertise that many service providers didn’t have.

I began building my own expertise while simultaneously thinking about how to share that expertise with other service providers. I worked as a program consultant for TEACCH Autism Program (UNC-Chapel Hill), eventually becoming a certified Advanced Consultant and trainer. I have had the pleasure and opportunity to train hundreds of teachers both here in the United States and abroad about Structured Teaching and evidence-based practices for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Realizing that the teachers needed even more consistent support, I formed a team and designed EduLync, a software application designed to help teachers assess children across areas of educational need and align assessment results to high quality IEP goals that could be used to track student progress more efficiently and effectively. In 2019, EduLync was acquired by another company where I worked to develop a cutting-edge product that continues to simplify and improve the IEP process.

My heart then called me back to where I started: working with individuals and families to help them achieve the best possible outcomes through comprehensive planning, including access to high quality educational programming, community-based support and in-home direct instruction. My large and diverse experience makes me uniquely qualified to advocate for children, young adults, and their families, to help them access programs and services, and to simplify an often complex world. My goal is that you as a parent can feel confident that your child is getting the support and the opportunities they deserve.
